Count and cost

The more cups in the box, the less each one costs

Every roast comes in three counts. The 12 is a sampler, the 31 is what most people order, and the 80 is where daily drinkers end up. Prices shown are for the Variety Set, Ecuador Dark and Nigeria Dark; Ivory Coast and Volta run a few dollars higher.

How it works

Three steps, about fifty seconds

Choffy cacao single-serve pods in a wooden bowl beside a knit throw
Drop the cup in

Standard single-serve size. It seats in a K-Cup® style brewer the same way a coffee pod does.

Brew on 8 oz

The 8 oz setting is the one to use. A 6 oz setting gives you a stronger, more intense cup.

Drink it as it is

It brews dark and clear like coffee, not thick like cocoa. Milk and sweetener are optional, not required.

Questions

What people ask before their first box

Will these work in my machine?

Yes. They are standard single-serve cups and fit Keurig brewers, including the K-Duo, K-Slim, K-Mini and older K-Classic models. If your machine takes a coffee pod, it takes these.

Is this hot chocolate?

No. Hot chocolate is a powder you dissolve — sugar, milk solids and cocoa. This is whole cacao beans, roasted and ground like coffee, then brewed. Nothing dissolves; the water passes through the grounds and comes out dark and clear. One ingredient, no sugar, no additives.

Which roast should I start with?

The Variety Set. Four origins in one box means you find the one you actually reach for before buying a case of it. If you would rather pick one, Nigeria Dark is the most straightforwardly chocolatey. There is a 12-cup Variety Set at $16.95 if you want to start smaller.

Can I use these for iced drinks?

Yes. Brew on the 6 oz setting straight over ice — the shorter brew keeps the flavour from washing out as the ice melts.

Are the cups recyclable?

Check the marking on the cup and your local program. The grounds inside are just cacao and can go in compost once the cup is opened.
