Before you brew
Yes. The flavor profile is close to coffee: bold, roasted, smoky, with a smooth finish. Our French roasts are the most coffee-like of the range. It is cacao, so there's a deeper chocolate note underneath, and it drinks black or with cream the same way coffee does.
Choffy's published figure is 2.4–2.6mg per fluid ounce, or roughly 19–21mg in an 8oz cup, versus about 96mg in an 8oz cup of brewed coffee. That's about a fifth, not zero. You also get theobromine, a gentler stimulant that lifts you without the crash.
Exactly like ground coffee: French press, pour-over, or a standard coffee maker. One thing matters more than it does with coffee. Use boiling water and the hottest, boldest setting your machine has. Cacao extracts at a higher temperature than coffee, and cooler water leaves flavor in the grounds. In a press, steep 4–6 minutes. Choffy also comes in Keurig-compatible single-serve cups if you'd rather skip the grounds.
